What are the responsibilities and job description for the Certified Peer Recovery Specialist position at Jefferson County Community Ministries?
Jefferson County Community Ministries is seeking a compassionate and committed Certified Peer Recovery Support Specialist to join our team. This role provides one-on-one and group peer support services to individuals experiencing substance use challenges, helping them navigate recovery, access resources, and build a healthier, more stable future.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide peer recovery support services to clients using lived experience and professional training.
- Assist individuals in identifying recovery goals and developing personalized recovery plans.
- Connect clients with community resources, including housing, employment, treatment, and social services.
- Maintain accurate documentation and case notes according to agency standards.
- Work collaboratively with JCCM staff, community partners, and support networks.
- Uphold client confidentiality and follow all ethical guidelines.
- Participate in team meetings, trainings, and program development as needed.
- Document client progress and maintain accurate records in compliance with agency policies
- Completion of Continuing Education credits as required by The West Virginia Certification Board for Addiction & Prevention Professionals (WVCBAPP) to maintain certification.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Must hold a current West Virginia Certified Peer Recovery Support Specialist (CPRSS) certification.
- Valid driver’s license in good standing.
- Knowledge of community resources.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Understanding of relapse prevention, mental health first aid, trauma informed care, and harm reduction techniques.
- Strong skills in motivational interviewing and addiction counseling techniques.
- Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with clients and team members.
