Works in heated and air-conditioned area; may be exposed to infectious material and contagious conditions including exposure to patient body fluids, including blood and contaminated sharps; potential for exposure to hazardous disinfecting chemicals; must follow universal precautions and utilize personal protective equipment.

- Admits patients to the clinic bay and assists the physician and/or nurse to provide physical care for the patient before, during, and after examinations and procedures.
- Performs routine clerical activities required for efficient operation of the ambulatory clinic.
- Provides appropriate safety and infection control measures.
- Appropriately utilizes facility communication and information systems and equipment.
- Strives for continuous quality improvement.
- Participates in educational experiences designed to maintain and/or improve professional competence.
- Maintains high work ethic standards.
- Provides quality customer service to staff, patients and visitors at all times.
Education:
- High School diploma or GED, some college preferred.
- Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant (MA) training program preferred, but not required.
- Prefer previous experience as an MA in the ambulatory care setting, but not required.
- Prefer certified MA
- BCLS certification or obtain within 3 months of hire
- Medical terminology
- Basic computer skills
- Completed JCMG’s Pharmacology training.
- For administration of injectable medications, must have successfully completed 20 injections with an approved mentor and must complete JCMG competency testing and successful completion of return demonstration.
- Staff with prior job experience without formal training is encouraged to sign up for JCMG’s Medical Assistant Program.
