RESPONSIBILITIES

- Greet and check in patients in a professional, compassionate manner
- Schedule new patient visits, follow-up appointments, and diagnostic testing
- Verify insurance eligibility and obtain prior authorizations for sleep studies and DME as needed
- Manage patient phone calls, secure messages, and portal communications
- Collect co-pays, deductibles and update patient demographic and insurance information
- Coordinate referrals, medical records requests, and outside provider communication
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA and patient privacy standards
- Room patients and obtain vital signs, sleep-related history, and chief complaints
- Administer and document screening tools
- Prepare exam rooms and assist provider during patient visits
- Educate patients on sleep studies, PAP therapy basics, and treatment plans
- Perform basic clinical tasks per scope of practice
- Enter and update clinical documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR)
- Assist with durable medical equipment (DME) coordination and compliance documentation
- Support follow-up care related to CPAP/BiPAP adherence and patient questions

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Education:
- High School diploma or GED, some college preferred.
- Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant (MA) training program preferred, but not required.
Experience:
- Prefer previous experience as an MA in the ambulatory care setting, but not required.
- Experience in Sleep Medicine preferred, but not required.
- Familiarity with sleep studies, PAP therapy, or DME processes preferred, but not required
Certification/License:
- Prefer certified MA
- BCLS certification or obtain within 3 months of hire

- Medical terminology

- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced clinical environment
- Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Works in heated and air-conditioned area; may be exposed to infectious material and contagious conditions including exposure to patient body fluids, including blood and contaminated sharps; potential for exposure to hazardous disinfecting chemicals; must follow universal precautions and utilize personal protective equipment.
