Security Guard, Part time
Normal Work Hours/Days: 7:00 a.m. - 7:30 p.m. Saturday & Sunday (Every Other Weekend)
Location: Crisis Care Center
The Crisis Care Center is designed to provide crisis stabilization to individuals experiencing a behavioral health and/or substance use crisis and reduce pressure on law enforcement and local emergency departments. Once the crisis has been resolved and the individual has been stabilized,
they will be linked with a community mental health provider for on-going services. The individual hired for this position will be responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for staff and clients at the Crisis Care Center.
PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS:
Responsible for securing the premises and personnel through patrolling the facility, monitoring surveillance equipment, performing safety inspections and safety searches throughout the building when directed by management and or provider.
Responsible for checking in and searching all new admissions for safety including all patient belongings and documenting as required per policy.
Responsible for intervening and managing crisis situations as needed through utilizing Therapeutic Options techniques.
Document and report any negative or suspicious activity, along with equipment or property damage, illegal activities, and unauthorized individuals to appropriate authorities always.
Sounds alarms as needed and responds to all emergencies as authorized by policies and procedures.
Controls flow of traffic by directing clients, law enforcement and ambulance to appropriate points of entry and designated areas to be treated.
Monitors and observes milieu, triage, and patient care areas to maintain safety and minimize
disturbances.
Perform hourly safety checks of hallways, stairwells, restrooms, grounds and other public as well as other unsupervised places at the facility.
Inspects all locks, windows, doors, and gates for unauthorized use and tampering.
Complete all required documentation daily and as needed per policy.
Other duties and tasks as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High school graduate or GED
Valid Alabama drivers license
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
General knowledge of maintaining a secure location
Trained in or willing to be trained in crisis intervention, specifically Therapeutic Options
Ability to lift 50 pounds
Must be able to function under limited supervision
Ability to implement and monitor policies, procedures, and program objectives
Demonstrable communication skills - both written and oral
Strong interpersonal skills, ability to easily adjust to changing demands and priorities with composure and professionalism
Ability to work cooperatively within the Crisis Care Center staff and with other JBS programs and agencies
Demonstrable organizational/time management
Ability top function during emergency and crisis situations while maintaining composure
