Position Overview
Jefferies is seeking an experienced Vice President to join its Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) with a focus on Financial Institutions Group (FIG). The Vice President will play a critical role in the execution of complex transactions across market structure, fintech, asset management, specialty finance, banks and insurance sectors.
This position offers significant client exposure and leadership responsibility, working closely with senior bankers to originate and execute strategic advisory mandates.
Key Responsibilities
Transaction Execution
- Lead day-to-day execution of M&A transactions, including sell-side, buy-side, and strategic advisory assignments
- Oversee financial analysis, valuation modeling, and transaction structuring
- Prepare and review client deliverables (pitchbooks, CIMs, management presentations, fairness opinions)
- Manage diligence processes and coordinate with legal, accounting, and client teams
- Drive deal timelines and ensure high-quality deliverables under tight deadlines
Client Coverage & Relationship Management
- Support senior bankers in cultivating and maintaining relationships with financial institution clients
- Participate in client meetings, board presentations, and negotiations
- Contribute to idea generation and strategic advisory discussions
Team Leadership
- Supervise and mentor Associates and Analysts
- Review financial models and presentations for accuracy and quality
- Allocate workstreams efficiently and provide developmental feedback
Origination & Business Development
- Assist in identifying new business opportunities within FIG sectors
- Contribute to pitch development
- Maintain awareness of market trends, regulatory changes, and competitive landscape in financial services
Qualifications
Required
- 4–8 years of investment banking experience, with relevant FIG exposure
- Strong track record of executing M&A transactions (sell-side and/or buy-side)
- Expertise in financial modeling, valuation techniques, and transaction processes
- Understanding of financial institutions
- Demonstrated leadership and team management experience
- Excellent communication and client-facing skills
Preferred
- Prior experience at a global investment bank or FIG-focused advisory platform
- MBA or equivalent advanced degree (optional but often valued)
