Position Overview
We are seeking a recent graduate with a degree in Geographic Information Science & Technology to join our Energy Investment Banking team. In this role, the successful candidate will support bankers and clients by developing high-quality geospatial analyses, maps, datasets, and visual materials focused primarily on the oil and gas sector.

The Jefferies GIS team supports projects across the energy industry, including upstream oil and gas, midstream gathering, processing and transportation, energy services, energy transition, and power. The successful candidate will be intelligent, highly self-motivated, willing to work long hours as needed, and possess strong interpersonal skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and analyze GIS datasets related to oil and gas assets, including acreage, leases, wells, units, permits, pipelines, processing facilities, basins, plays, and infrastructure.
- Create high-quality maps, exhibits, and geospatial visuals for pitch books, client presentations, confidential information memoranda, management presentations, and other transaction materials.
- Support investment banking teams in evaluating upstream, midstream, and energy infrastructure opportunities through geospatial analysis.
- Integrate spatial data with production, financial, operational, regulatory, and market datasets to support asset valuation and strategic analysis.
- Conduct acreage, well-spacing, offset operator, inventory, development, and basin-level mapping analyses.
- Manage and clean large geospatial datasets from public, proprietary, and client-provided sources.
- Work closely with bankers, analysts, associates, and senior team members to translate available data into clear, client-ready GIS outputs.
- Ensure the consistency, accuracy, and professional quality of all maps and geospatial materials.
- Maintain internal GIS libraries, templates, workflows, and data standards.
- Assist with ad hoc mapping and data requests under tight deadlines in a transaction-driven environment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Geographic Information Science & Technology (GIST) or a related field.
- Strong working knowledge of GIS software, including ArcGIS Pro, ArcMap, QGIS, or similar platforms.
- Strong data management skills, including experience cleaning, joining, validating, and analyzing spatial and tabular datasets.
- Ability to produce polished, presentation-ready maps and graphics for senior executives and clients.
- Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities under deadline pressure.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
