Lasley Elementary School is an outstanding community school that has proudly served Jefferson County, CO for more than 60 years. At Lasley, we live our school's mission and vision every day by demonstrating critical thinking, life-long learning, and collaboration.Our graduates often get accepted into Colorado's most elite colleges and universities. Our success stems from our school's core value: focusing on the whole child. Every member of the Lasley staff works tirelessly to develop each child, while collaborating and partnering with both families and the greater community. RESPONSIBILITIES


SUMMARY: Committed to instructing and supporting culturally and linguistically diverse students on their pathway to becoming bilingual, biliterate, and multicultural. Collaborate with all stakeholders (parents, teachers, instructional coaches, etc.) to ensure student achievement. Provide instruction only in Spanish and collaborate with the English environment teacher to deliver a guaranteed and viable curriculum in both languages.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

Teach solely in the Spanish environment of a Two-Way Dual Language Program following the district's two-way dual language model.

Collaboratively plan with grade level and vertical team members plus Instructional Coaches, ESL Teacher, and Digital Teacher Librarians utilizing student data, district curriculum, and instructional resources.

Plan, prepare, and deliver instructional activities for students that are both English speaking and multilingual learners.

Create positive educational climate for students to learn in.

Analyze student data to implement appropriate instructional strategies for differentiated instruction.

Participate in school and district professional development.

Participate in ongoing school and district professional development.

Communicate consistently and effectively with parents through both oral and written communication.

Demonstrate flexible thinking and exhibit a growth mindset.

Reflect upon and refine teaching craft through participation in coaching cycle; observe, model, practice, and reflect on instruction.

Observe and evaluate student's performance.

Collaborate with all stakeholders (students, parents, teachers, instructional coaches, administration at school and district level) to support student achievement.

Administer school, district, and state assessments.

Employ current best practices and research-based instructional strategies.

Implement Jeffco's guaranteed and viable curriculum.

Utilize various support resources and technologies to enhance student learning.

Integrate competencies, goals, and objectives into lesson plans. Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.

Manage student behavior and build culturally responsive relationships with students and families in the classroom creating appropriate behavior strategies.

EXPERIENCE Understanding of or experience teaching in Two-Way Dual Language program (Dual Immersion) Experience teaching at the elementary level.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING Qualifying teacher education program or B.A. in Elementary Education. CLDE or LDE endorsement preferred or must be willing to obtain. Science of reading professional learning hours for K-3 must be obtained within a year of hire.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, OR REGISTRATIONS Valid Colorado Teaching License. Must meet elementary content qualifications, which could include the elementary license endorsement, degree in the content area, Colorado State Board of Education approved content exam, or 36 credit hours as determined by the District. Endorsement in CLDE or willingness to obtain.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Must demonstrate high levels of literacy and oral language proficiency in Spanish. Conversational English or willingness to learn. Knowledge of curriculum and development of elementary age children. Knowledge and experience using a variety of assessment tools and analyzing data.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Regularly required to use hands to handle and feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk and hear. Must be able to access shelving and storage areas. Must be able to lift 25 pounds unassisted. Specific vision requirements include close and distance vision (with corrective lenses). Must be able to direct or lead students to safety in the event of an emergency or drill.

MENTAL REQUIREMENTS Ability to read and comprehend curriculum; polices and procedures; standards; benchmarks; behavior plans; and implementation strategies. Ability to make sound decisions on a day-to-day basis on appropriate communication with students and families/caregivers; and appropriate classroom room management. Ability to read, interpret, follow, and instruct others on safety rules. Ability to modify instruction appropriately for the needs of individual students. Ability to evaluate and provide constructive feedback on both academic performance and student behavior. Demonstrate mature judgement in exercising appropriate supervision and expectations of students. Ability to speak effectively before groups.

WORK ENVIRONMENT Primarily working inside in an elementary school classroom. Typical elementary school building may also contain libraries, computer labs, and kitchens. May be exposed to outside elements during activities such as bus duty, recess duty, drills, or field trips.
