SUMMARY Perform a variety of accounting and bookkeeping functions related to grants and general accounting activities. Responsibilities include preparing and posting accounting entries; managing grant budgets and transactions; reconciling accounts and preparing financial reports. Serve as a liaison between schools, departments, and grantors; ensuring compliance with federal, state, and district regulations. Help maintain the integrity of the district's financial records; support audits and year-end processes; and assist staff in understanding grant procedures so funds are used responsibly and effectively to support student learning.

Provide professional support to schools and departments regarding grant requirements and accounting procedures ensuring grant expenditures comply with federal, state, and district allowability rules, including Uniform Grant Guidance (UGG).
Set up and close out grants; prepare, load, and revise budgets; analyze cash flows; and manage grant-related transactions.
Assist with internal and external audit requests by providing documentation, explanations, and supporting schedules.
Monitor grant deadlines, reporting requirements, and spending timelines to prevent lapses or funding reversion.
Prepare and submit required financial reports to grantors and the Colorado Department of Education.
Perform standard accounting activities including journal entries, receivables, cost allocations, and bank reconciliations.
Reconcile balance sheet accounts and prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
Monitor account codes and financial transactions; review, research, and correct payroll charges and accounting errors.
Prepare budget-to-actual projections and analyses; support year-end reconciliations and reporting.
Verify and approve vouchers, requisitions, contracts, and additional earnings.
Calculate and process indirect costs and salary certifications in compliance with federal regulations.
Support posting payroll data and expense transfers to ensure accurate recording of compensation and benefits.
Update financial guides and assist with district-wide training initiatives.
Maintain organized electronic and physical records for grants, budgets, and financial transactions.
Cross-train, problem-solve, and collaborate with team members.
Perform other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE: 3 years of experience in accounting, finance, or bookkeeping, preferably in a government or public sector environment. Experience with ERP systems, large databases, and grants management preferred.
EDUCATION AND TRAINING: High school diploma/GED required. Associate's degree or equivalent post-secondary coursework in accounting, finance, or business management preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES & REGISTRATIONS: None required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of governmental accounting principles and federal and state grant requirements including Uniform Grant Guidance (UGG). Knowledge of budgeting, financial reporting processes, account coding, and allowable cost rules. Knowledge of accounting software systems, spreadsheets, and financial databases. Skilled in reviewing financial data and identifying discrepancies. Skilled in using accounting software, ERP systems, and advanced spreadsheet functions. Skilled in preparing accurate financial reports and reconciliations. Skilled in communicating financial information clearly to non-financial staff. Ability to monitor grant spending and ensure compliance with federal, state, and district requirements. Ability to maintain accuracy and attention to detail in a high-volume environment. Ability to troubleshoot financial issues and recommend corrective action. Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial information.
