This role is designed with growth in mind. You'll start as a Service Advisor, learning our systems, our standards, and our customers. After 90 days, the expectation is that you step into an Assistant Manager role — taking on additional responsibility for shop operations, team coordination, and performance. THE ROLE

The Service Advisor is the face of Jeff's Automotive. You're the first person our customers see when they pull in and the last voice they hear before they drive away. You translate complex repair needs into clear, honest recommendations, coordinate the flow of work through the shop, and make sure every customer interaction reflects our core values of integrity, transparency, and exceptional service.


WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Greet every customer warmly and professionally — opening the door for them, smiling, making eye contact, and creating a welcoming atmosphere from the first moment
  • Conduct thorough vehicle write-ups, capturing all customer concerns word-for-word and asking the right questions to ensure technicians have everything they need
  • Review vehicle history in Tekmetric and Carfax before and during each visit to identify previously declined services, outstanding maintenance, and recall items
  • Prepare and present accurate repair estimates; confirm pricing, labor times, and technician findings before communicating with the customer
  • Present repair recommendations honestly and clearly, applying the Three C's framework (Concern, Cause, Correction) so customers fully understand what happened, why, and how it was fixed
  • Proactively offer relevant additional services and maintenance aligned with the customer's vehicle history and current needs
  • Manage shop workflow throughout the day — coordinating with technicians, dispatching jobs, tracking wait times, and keeping jobs moving efficiently
  • Keep customers informed with timely updates via their preferred contact method (call, text, or email), always following through on any promises made
  • Perform the Service Advisor opening checklist each morning to ensure the shop is ready for the day, and execute proper closing procedures at end of shift
  • Handle customer concerns or complaints with professionalism and a genuine desire to resolve them
  • Accurately process payments, complete repair order documentation, and maintain organized records
  • Pre-book future appointments before customers leave to maintain retention and keep the schedule full
  • Support the 3-day customer follow-up process in coordination with our CSR to ensure post-visit satisfaction


WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Required:

  • Exceptional communication skills — you can explain technical information clearly without talking down to anyone
  • A customer-first mindset with a genuine desire to help, not just sell
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to juggle multiple jobs, conversations, and priorities simultaneously
  • Honesty and integrity — with customers and with your teammates
  • A calm, professional demeanor under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Basic computer proficiency; ability to learn shop management software quickly
  • Availability Monday through Saturday

Preferred (not required):

  • Prior experience in automotive service advising, service writing, or a customer-facing role in the trades
  • Familiarity with Tekmetric, Mitchell1, or similar shop management software
  • Working knowledge of common automotive services, maintenance intervals, or repair terminology
  • Experience using Carfax or similar vehicle history tools
  • Leadership or supervisory experience — helpful as you transition into the Assistant Manager role

  • Urgency and follow-through — If you said you'd call by 2pm, you call by 2pm
  • Team coordination — You understand that a smooth shop day depends on everyone communicating clearly and early


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This is an active, on-your-feet role in a fast-paced shop environment. You should be comfortable standing for extended periods throughout the day and moving between the service desk, the shop floor, and the customer waiting area. It's a hands-on, high-energy position — not a desk job.
