Job Summary:
The Human Resources Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of the HR function within the company. This role involves developing and implementing HR strategies, managing employee relations, overseeing performance management, and ensuring compliance with labor laws and company policies. The HR Manager will work closely with department heads and employees to foster a positive work environment, drive organizational success, and support the growth of the company through effective human resource management.
Responsibilities:
- Employee Relations:
- Serve as a trusted advisor to employees and management, addressing concerns and promoting a positive work environment.
- Investigate and resolve employee relations issues, ensuring fair and consistent application of company policies.
- Onboarding and Orientation:
- Develop and implement onboarding programs that introduce new hires to the company's culture, policies, and procedures, ensuring a smooth transition into their roles.
- Ensure pre-employment checks, cannabis compliance items, and employment eligibility verifications are completed in accordance with legal requirements.
- Organize and conduct orientation sessions to educate new employees and ensure compliance with company standards.
- Collaborate with IT and other departments to ensure new hires have the necessary equipment, system access, and credentials from day one.
- Performance Management:
- Implement and manage performance appraisal processes to drive employee development and organizational success.
- Work closely with department heads to identify performance improvement opportunities and develop action plans.
- Training and Development:
- Coordinate and facilitate training programs to enhance employee skills and knowledge.
- Identify learning and development needs, collaborating with managers to implement targeted development initiatives.
- Benefits Administration:
- Oversee the administration of employee benefits, ensuring compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
- Collaborate with external vendors to optimize benefit offerings and provide support to employees on benefit-related matters.
- Policy Development and Compliance:
- Develop and update HR policies in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Stay informed about changes in employment legislation and ensure company policies remain current and aligned with legal requirements.
- Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI):
- Champion diversity and inclusion initiatives to foster a workplace that values and respects individual differences.
- Collaborate with leadership to implement and track DEI goals and initiatives.
- Health and Safety:
- Collaborate with the Health and Safety team to ensure a safe working environment, adhering to industry regulations and best practices.
- Implement and oversee wellness programs to promote employee well-being.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Proven experience as an HR Manager in a manufacturing or highly regulated industry, preferably in cannabis.
- Experience overseeing 300 employees.
- In-depth knowledge of HR laws, regulations, and best practices.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Certification in Human Resources (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR) is a plus.
