Your Role

We are seeking a Senior CAD Technician to join our Survey Department Team. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing detailed civil and infrastructure drawings with a strong focus on as-built documentation and topographic surveys using AutoCAD Civil 3D. Civil 3D is required by most NYC Agencies and Design firms. Survey firms use it to produce Survey Maps such as:

• Topographical Maps

• Boundary/Right of Way Maps

• Easement Maps

• Utility Maps

• Survey Control (Horizontal & Vertical) Maps

• Sewer and Water Main As-Built Maps

• Profiles (Sewer & Highway)

You’ll work closely with surveyors, engineers, and project managers to develop accurate utility plans, roadway layouts, and other survey-based drawings for some of the city's most critical infrastructure projects.

This position is based on-site in Manhattan, NY, with occasional field visits throughout the five boroughs. Please note that relocation assistance is not offered for this role.

Key Responsibilities

• Create and revise civil and site drawings in AutoCAD Civil 3D, including grading, utilities, profiles, and cross-sections

• Draft as-built drawings, survey-based topographic maps, and utility layouts from field data and redlines

• Ensure drawing sets comply with NYC agency standards (e.g., DDC, DOT, DEP)

• Coordinate with survey and engineering staff to accurately reflect design intent and site conditions

• Maintain and organize CAD files in accordance with internal and client protocols

• Support QA/QC reviews and incorporate markups promptly and accurately

Qualifications

Required

• Minimum 3-5 years of CAD drafting experience in civil, site, or transportation projects

• Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D (alignments, surfaces, profiles, and pipe networks)

• Familiarity with civil engineering design standards and municipal infrastructure

• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and field survey data

• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities

Preferred

• Experience working with NYC public agencies (DDC, DOT, DEP, NYCEDC, NYSDOT)

• Associate’s degree or technical certificate in Civil Engineering Technology, Drafting, or related field

• Ability to use Carson Survey CAD software a plus
