Job Overview
The mission of the McLane Community Arts Program is to provide, free, professional, weekly music and art instruction for elementary school children. We meet in New Braunfels from 3:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Tuesdays, and follow the NBISD school calendar. We will start the 2026/27 school year on September 8. Due to an increase in our enrollment, we are in need of an additional art instructor and one assistant. The art instructor must be a professional art instructor demonstrating experience in teaching art to elementary school children. The assistant instructor position does not require prior art experience, but some experience teraching or helping with children is required. The assistant position functions to help organize, lay out and clean up materials used during the session and to aid the instructor in working with the children. Duties
- Design and implement comprehensive art curricula in co-ordination with our other art instructors tailored to elementary school children.
- Lead engaging art classes that incorporate various mediums such as painting and drawing.
- Manage classroom environments effectively to ensure safety, positive behavior, and productive learning experiences.
- Provide personalized tutoring and support to students needing extra guidance in art techniques or project development.
- Develop creative lesson plans that integrate elements of childhood development, special education needs, and behavior management strategies.
Experience
- Proven experience in teaching art to young children.
- Strong background in curriculum development with the ability to craft engaging lessons for children.
Pay: $40.00 per hour
