Risk/Safety Manager
Position Summary
James D. Morrissey, Inc. / Eureka Stone Quarry, Inc. is seeking a dedicated and experienced Risk/Safety Manager to support and enhance our company-wide safety initiatives. Working closely with the Environmental Safety Director, this role is responsible for promoting a culture of safety, ensuring regulatory compliance, and minimizing risk across construction sites, concrete plants, and mining operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Promote a strong culture of safety, quality, and productivity across all operations
- Conduct safety training at construction job sites, concrete plants, and mine sites
- Support, audit, and monitor compliance with corporate and site-specific safety policies
- Identify, address, and help resolve unsafe acts or conditions; escalate unresolved issues to senior management
- Lead by example to motivate employees and reinforce adherence to safety programs
- Investigate, document, and report all accidents, incidents, and near-miss events
- Manage and follow up on insurance claims in coordination with the company’s insurance providers
- Assist the Environmental Safety Director with environmental compliance initiatives
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Construction Management, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered
- Experience with Workers’ Compensation and General Liability claims management
- Working knowledge of OSHA, MSHA, DEP, and EPA regulations is highly desirable
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction Certification (preferred; required after hire if not currently held)
- Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with all levels of management, including company ownership and subcontractors
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- Willingness to participate in on-the-job training as needed
Work Environment & Requirements
- Position covers job sites located in Philadelphia, Bucks County, Montgomery County, and the Lehigh Valley
- Travel between locations is required
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check
