Position Summary
JDM Materials Co. has an immediate opening for an experienced Automotive Truck Painter at our Huntingdon Valley, PA location.
The Automotive Truck Painter will be responsible for preparing, painting, and finishing trucks, commercial vehicles, and large equipment in a professional spray booth environment. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with automotive or truck painting, surface preparation, paint mixing, and spray gun application. We are looking for someone who takes pride in producing high-quality finishes, pays close attention to detail, and can work independently while meeting production schedules.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and work safely in a professional automotive and industrial spray booth.
- Prepare and paint trucks, commercial vehicles, fleet vehicles, and large equipment.
- Perform surface preparation, including sanding, masking, cleaning, and priming.
- Mix and match paints, primers, and coatings according to specifications.
- Apply paint using spray guns and other professional painting equipment.
- Achieve smooth, even, high-quality finishes while minimizing runs, drips, and other imperfections.
- Inspect completed work and identify and correct paint defects or surface blemishes.
- Perform touch-ups, refinishing, and repainting as needed.
- Prepare steel, aluminum, and other surfaces for painting.
- Mask vehicle components, trim, windows, and other areas to protect them during painting.
- Clean, maintain, and properly store spray guns, painting equipment, and booth supplies.
- Follow proper paint application procedures, manufacturer specifications, and safety requirements.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Manage assigned work efficiently while meeting quality standards and production deadlines.
- Perform basic mechanical tasks and assist with removing or reinstalling vehicle components as needed.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Minimum of 1 year of automotive, truck, or industrial spray painting experience.
- Previous experience painting trucks, commercial vehicles, or heavy-duty equipment preferred.
- Hands-on experience working in a professional spray booth.
- Proficiency in spray gun operation and paint application techniques.
- Knowledge of surface preparation, sanding, masking, priming, and finishing.
- Familiarity with paint mixing, color matching, and automotive or industrial coatings.
- Ability to identify and correct paint defects and achieve a quality finish.
- Basic mechanical skills and the ability to remove and reinstall vehicle components.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to safely handle paints, solvents, coatings, tools, and painting equipment.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform the physical requirements of the job.
