Company Description
JDM Farms is a family-operated vineyard and orchard located in the Dunnigan Hills AVA of Yolo County, just outside Woodland, California. The farm produces premium wine grapes and certified organic olives, supporting both respected California producers and its own estate brand, JDM Estate.
Led by Woodland-based entrepreneur Jeff Morgan, JDM is also actively involved in acquiring, improving, and developing properties in the local area. As these efforts continue to grow, we are seeking a draftsperson to support ongoing design, planning, and construction work.
Position Description
The Draftsperson is responsible for creating detailed technical drawings and plans used in construction projects. This role works closely with architects, contractors, engineers, designers, and project managers to translate concepts, specifications, and calculations into accurate and comprehensive drawings used for planning, permitting, and project submittals.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed 2D and 3D drawings, plans, and schematics using CAD software
- Interpret and translate sketches, specifications, and technical data into precise drawings
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, and project teams to ensure design accuracy and feasibility
- Revise drawings based on feedback, project updates, or regulatory requirements
- Maintain drawing standards, templates, and documentation practices
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes, industry standards, and company guidelines
- Perform quantity take-offs and assist with material specifications as needed
- Organize and manage drawing files and project documentation
- Support project timelines by producing drawings efficiently and accurately
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree or certification in Drafting, Design Technology, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field
- Proven experience as a draftsperson or in a similar drafting role
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, SolidWorks)
- Strong understanding of technical drawing principles and standards
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and engineering documents
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Effective communication and collaboration abilities
- Ability to contribute to design concepts and layout development
- Willingness to work closely with ownership and project partners to help execute a vision
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in construction or architectural drafting
- Knowledge of building codes, zoning regulations, and permitting processes
- Familiarity with 3D modeling and rendering tools
- Experience with BIM (Building Information Modeling)
