About The Role

At JDC Power Systems, LLC, you’ll be the trusted expert our customers call when their power systems need swift, skilled attention. As a Power Systems Field Service Technologist, you’ll spend your days diagnosing issues, restoring uptime, and commissioning equipment across a variety of sites—keeping operations running safely and efficiently.

A day in the life

• Arrive on-site and review work orders, safety protocols, and system documentation.
• Run diagnostics on transformers, circuit breakers, LV/MV switchgear, and PLC-controlled equipment to pinpoint faults and minimize downtime.
• Complete repairs and preventive maintenance, verify performance, and support startups and commissioning to meet customer specifications.
• Walk customers through system operation and basic maintenance; capture detailed service notes, test reports, and performance feedback.
• Collaborate with the JDC team and, when applicable, use remote tools to accelerate troubleshooting.
• Close the day by reconciling time, parts, and inventory—always with OSHA and company safety standards front and center.
  
  

What you’ll handle

• Technical service: On-site troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair for electrical systems and industrial controls, including LV/MV equipment, switchgear, transformers, circuit breakers, and PLCs.
• Commissioning: Support startups and system commissioning to ensure compliance with customer requirements and proper operation.
• Customer success: Serve as the primary point of contact during service visits; provide basic operator training and ensure high satisfaction.
• Documentation & efficiency: Maintain accurate time, service records, and on-site inventory; use digital tools and remote diagnostics where applicable.
• Safety leadership: Follow OSHA, NFPA, and company procedures; maintain required safety certifications and participate in ongoing training.
  
  

What you bring

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s in electrical engineering or related field preferred. Certifications like NFPA 70E and OSHA 30 are a plus.
• Experience: 3–5 years in field service focused on power systems, electrical equipment, or industrial controls; hands-on work with transformers and circuit breakers.
• Competencies: Advanced troubleshooting, clear customer communication, independence in prioritizing service calls, and proficiency with field service management tools, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
• Bonus skills: Work with low and medium voltage systems; familiarity with PLCs, SCADA, and protective relays.
  
  

Travel & logistics

• Willing and able to travel frequently with overnight stays to customer sites and JDC locations nationwide.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Strong commitment to safety and customer satisfaction.
• Comfort using standard test equipment (multimeters, breaker test sets).
  
  

Where you’ll be based

• Regional office: Sterling, VA.
• Regular regional travel to customer sites and internal field service locations (daily/weekly).
• Occasional nationwide travel.
