Electrical Automation Engineer

JDB Control Technologies is seeking a full-time Electrical Automation Engineer to join our team at our Wallingford, CT location. In this on-site role, the successful candidate will design, implement, and maintain PLC based AC/DC drives and automation control systems, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimize process control and automation, and troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues in industrial equipment. This engineer will also play a significant role in system integration and provide technical support for advanced automation processes.

Candidate must have a minimum three years’ experience working as a PLC Automation engineer.

Skills should include:

· Work as part of a team with others.

· Candidate must exhibit attention to detail. This ensures accuracy in programming and system setup.

· Candidate must have a solid foundation in electrical engineering or a related field.

· Able to read and troubleshoot electrical systems related to PLC, AC, and DC drive hardware.

· Must be familiar with safety systems and safety protocols

· Familiarity with automation software such as Siemens TIA Portal or Allen-Bradley ControlLogix, is required.

· Proficiency in PLC programming languages, especially Ladder Logic, and structured text is required. Candidate should be comfortable writing and debugging PLC code to control various industrial processes.

· Have substantial experience with AC drives and their associated control concepts. Work with DC motors and drives is a plus.

· Candidate must be able to work under pressure at customer work sites possibly for extended hours. Our people often need to troubleshoot and resolve problems quickly to minimize downtime in production environments.

· 25% travel to customer sites. Some notice of upcoming travel will be provided.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field preferred, or equivalent experience
• Experience in the metals or manufacturing industry preferred
• Strong communication skills and commitment to delivering quality solutions
• Proficient in AutoCAD 2D
• Proficient in applying Allen-Bradley Logix-based PLCs.
• Experience with Siemens AC or DC drives a plus
• Experience with Siemens S7 based PLC's a plus
