What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Marketing position at JD Finish Line?
The Director of Marketing will spearhead strategic growth and planning of JD brand marketing strategies and campaigns to deliver brand consideration across all consumer touchpoints.
This person is responsible for delivering premium consumer experiences thru both seasonal and year-long category and brand programs that engage the consumer, elevate the JD brand and drive business growth.
They will partner with the Buying team, Brand Strategy & Creative, Merchandising, Retail Marketing, Digital Marketing and Brand Partners to identify, brief and manage seasonal programs to drive growth and consideration of the JD brand. This individual should effectively exhibit JD Finish Line’s core values of Customer, People, Winning, Community, and Financial Responsibility in everything they do by performing the following main duties:
Strategic Campaign Leadership:
Plan, develop, lead, and execute seasonal marketing campaigns across digital, social, and physical touchpoints while ensuring alignment to business objectives and brand positioning.
The ideal candidate must thrive in matrixed environments—working across Buying, Creative, Digital, Retail, Finance and Merchandising.
Go-To-Market Strategy:
Orchestrate the planning and execution of integrated marketing strategies across all channels—digital, in-store, media and experiential. Ensure cross-functional alignment between buying, brand/creative, and channel teams to drive impactful results and market share growth.
Partner Marketing & Co-op:
Cultivate and strengthen relationships with third-party partners, executing co-branded campaigns and marketing initiatives that maximize JD's visibility and drive mutual growth. Negotiate co-op funding and manage the full lifecycle of partner marketing collaborations.
Loyalty Program Communication:
Partner with the Loyalty team to optimize JD’s loyalty program marketing initiatives and brand partner extensions. Utilize qualitative and quantitative data-driven insights to enhance member value and position JD in North America.
Market Insights & Analysis:
Analyze market trends, competitive positioning, and consumer insights to shape marketing strategies. Provide regular performance updates and actionable insights to leadership, using key metrics such as brand awareness, consumer acquisition, and segment growth.
Team Leadership:
Manage, mentor, and inspire a team across marketing strategy, integration and loyalty communications, fostering collaboration and driving excellence across all marketing disciplines. Set clear goals, provide regular feedback, and promote professional development to enhance team capabilities.
Required Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor’s degree (B.A) from a four-year college or university or equivalent experience required, with Business, Marketing, Communication. Minimum of 8 years relevant work experience required in Marketing. A solid understanding of retail, media and digital trends (cross-platform narratives, social media, experiential marketing, and mobile application) preferred. Experience in multi-vendor retailing is a plus.
Required Computer and/or Technical Skills:
Excellent computer skills, including basic to intermediate knowledge and abilities with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and Google G Suite. High degree of internet savvy, with a curiosity and enthusiasm for digital and media trends.

Pay range: $135,000 - $150,000 (Depending on Experience); 20% bonus target. This role will be eligible for medical, dental, vision, 401k, sick leave, parental leave, and company paid time off plan.
