General Summary:
The Retail Trainer is responsible for the design, delivery, and evaluation of training and development. Assures that programs and projects are aligned with strategic goals of the Bank, reinforces JD Bank goals and objectives, and provides necessary training and support to help managers and employees excel in their performance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serves as the primary trainer for conducting all aspects of new hire training programs, specifically Teller Training, Universal Banker Training, Research Software, Mainframe Software, and other training as assigned. Stays knowledgeable of Teller-related and Universal Banker related systems, products, services, and processes to ensure training is accurate and relevant.
- Prepares materials for training classes, monitors progress and performance of participants; evaluates results and prepares trainee evaluations. Includes keeping training materials current and in compliance with regulations.
- Trains new retail staff in the use of equipment, policies, procedures, customer service activities, cross-selling, and effective and accurate processing of customer account transactions.
- Trains staff in proper closing and opening of the teller window, handling currency, security procedures and marketing of the Bank’s products and services.
- Maintains contact with retail branches and departments to monitor changes in policies and procedures for branch in conjunction with Retail Operations.
- Identifies differences in teller activity from branch to branch and recommends refresher training for existing employees, based on feedback from Retail Operations and branch management. Responsible for coordinating and scheduling necessary training.
- Stays accountable and committed to the success of new employees through training and development programs.
- Creates and retains employee training and development records.
- Assists in the support of employee training programs for the new implementation of bank products and software as assigned.
- Maintains knowledge of the latest trends in training and development.
- Accountable for the understanding of and adherence to operational controls, policies, procedures, and processes to ensure compliance with bank policies and related laws and regulations.
- Adherence to and support of all compliance and BSA/AML rules and regulations related to this job function.
- Performs other duties that may be assigned by Management.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree required in related field or equivalent experience required.
- 5 years of service-related and technical experience in training and instructional design, including technical branch operations training required.
- Minimum two years of experience working in a Financial Institution.
- Certification through the American Society for Training and Development (ASTD) a plus.
- Certified Professional Trainer (CPT) designation through the American Training and Seminar Association (ATSA) a plus.
Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of banking environment including teller and universal banker.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and an outgoing, friendly, professional personality with good energy and enthusiasm.
- Ability to coordinate and prioritize numerous assignments/special projects simultaneously.
- Ability to create and deliver engaging learning experience through all delivery channels including digital, virtual and in-person.
- Ability to learn new processes and procedures quickly and the ability to translate this knowledge to effective training.
- Ability to evaluate performance and assess additional training needs.
- Demonstrated success in classroom instruction with strong facilitation skills.
- Excellent collaborative and interpersonal skills. Ability to navigate and negotiate multiple deliverables with all levels.
- Proficient in Excel, Word, Power Point, and Outlook
Scheduling:
Work schedule will vary depending upon demand, but will consist of an 8-hour shift between the hours of 7:30 a.m. – 6:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Occasional overtime may be required. Regular attendance in the office is required. May travel to other bank locations occasionally.
