Position Title: Real Estate Tax Senior

Location: New York City, NY

Role Summary:

JCW is working with a global alternative asset management company on a Real Estate Tax Senior opening. This person will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of real estate tax compliance, planning, and strategy for a diverse portfolio of properties. This role involves collaborating with various internal teams, including finance and legal, to ensure tax obligations are met efficiently and in line with the overall business strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

• Tax Compliance: Ensure timely and accurate filing of all real estate tax returns and related documents. Manage the preparation and review of tax compliance activities.
• Tax Planning and Strategy: Develop and implement tax planning strategies to minimize tax liabilities while ensuring compliance with all applicable tax laws.
• Risk Management: Identify and mitigate potential tax risks related to property acquisitions, dispositions, and ongoing operations.
• Financial Reporting: Collaborate with the finance team to ensure proper tax accounting and reporting in financial statements.
• Property Valuation Appeals: Oversee and manage property tax assessment appeals and work with external consultants or legal advisors as necessary.
• Internal Coordination: Work closely with asset management and legal teams to provide tax-related insights during property transactions.
• Regulatory Updates: Stay updated on changes in tax legislation and assess the potential impact on the real estate portfolio.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or equivalent qualification is preferred.
• Extensive experience in real estate tax, including compliance, planning, and strategy.
• Strong understanding of property tax laws and regulations.
• Proven ability to manage complex tax issues and lead successful tax strategies.
• Excellent communication and analytical skills, with a strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities.
