What are the responsibilities and job description for the Process Technician position at JCW Milling?
Feed Mill Process Technician
Full-Time | Feed Mill Operations
We’re looking for a dependable, mechanically minded person to join our feed mill team.
This is a hands-on job for someone who likes to understand how things work, pays attention to what’s going on around them, and takes pride in keeping an operation running right. You’ll work with the equipment and systems that move feed through the mill—from grinding and batching to mixing, processing, and loadout.
You do not need years of feed mill experience to be successful here. We’re willing to train someone who has the right attitude, shows up, wants to learn, and has enough mechanical sense to notice when something doesn’t look, sound, or run the way it should.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Operate and monitor feed mill equipment and production systems.
- Use computerized controls to keep an eye on production, equipment, alarms, and material flow.
- Help run grinding, batching, mixing, conveying, processing, and loadout operations.
- Follow feed formulas and production schedules accurately.
- Check bin levels, equipment readings, product flow, and other operating conditions.
- Collect samples and complete routine quality checks.
- Keep accurate production records.
- Catch problems early and help troubleshoot equipment or process issues.
- Make routine adjustments to keep production running safely and efficiently.
- Work with maintenance when equipment needs attention or repair.
- Keep work areas clean, safe, and organized.
- Help with equipment inspections and basic preventive maintenance.
- Communicate with the team about what’s running, what’s not, and what needs attention.
- Pitch in where needed to keep the mill operating.
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone who is:
- Dependable and ready to work.
- Mechanically inclined and interested in how equipment works.
- Comfortable using a computer and learning automated control systems.
- Able to follow instructions without needing someone to stand over them.
- Detail-oriented enough to follow formulas and keep accurate records.
- Willing to ask questions and learn.
- Able to recognize when something isn’t right and speak up.
- Safety-minded around machinery and equipment.
- Comfortable working as part of a small team where everyone has to do their part.
Experience That Helps
Previous experience in any of these areas is a plus:
- Feed mills
- Grain handling
- Farming or agricultural operations
- Cattle or livestock operations
- Manufacturing or production
- Industrial equipment
- Mechanical troubleshooting
- Automated equipment or control systems
- Forklifts, skid steers, or other equipment
No feed mill experience? That doesn’t automatically rule you out. If you’ve worked around equipment, understand the value of a hard day’s work, and are willing to learn the operation, we’d still like to hear from you.
What the Job Is Really Like
This is an active, hands-on job in a working feed mill. Some days go according to plan. Some days a piece of equipment has other ideas.
You’ll be around machinery, dust, noise, changing temperatures, heights, and agricultural materials. The work can include climbing stairs and ladders, bending, kneeling, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
We’re not looking for someone who already knows everything. We are looking for someone who pays attention, takes responsibility, works safely, and wants to get better at the job.
If you’re dependable, mechanically minded, and interested in learning a skilled role in feed manufacturing, we encourage you to apply.
