What are the responsibilities and job description for the Universal Banker position at JCW Group?
We are currently recruiting on behalf of a Regional Bank looking for a Universal Banker for their Norwalk Branch.
The Universal Banker serves as a key resource for customers by handling daily transactions, opening and servicing accounts, identifying financial needs, and recommending appropriate banking products and services. This individual will play an important role in creating a positive customer experience and supporting the overall success of the branch
Key Responsibilities
- Process a variety of customer transactions, including deposits, withdrawals, transfers, loan payments, and check cashing
- Open and maintain consumer deposit accounts, including checking, savings, CDs, and related products
- Assist customers with account servicing requests, debit card inquiries, online banking enrollment, and other banking needs
- Develop and maintain strong customer relationships through proactive engagement and exceptional service
- Identify customer needs and recommend appropriate banking products and services to deepen relationships
- Generate referrals for lending, investment, treasury management, and other specialized banking services
- Ensure all transactions and account activities comply with bank policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
- Maintain accurate records and balance cash drawers in accordance with established controls
- Support branch operations and contribute to achieving branch growth and customer service goals
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of banking, teller, personal banker, retail banking, or related customer service experience
- Experience opening and servicing consumer deposit accounts preferred
- Strong sales aptitude with the ability to identify opportunities and make appropriate referrals
- Excellent communication, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Proficiency with banking systems, Microsoft Office, and other relevant technology
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
