About the Opportunity

Our client is a long-established manufacturer in St. Charles County that runs printing presses and related production equipment. They are adding an Industrial Maintenance Technician to their 2nd shift crew. You will be the one keeping the lines running after 2:30 PM. Days and first-shift support are available while you train, and you will work alongside a 5-person day-shift maintenance team.

The schedule is four 10-hour days, Monday through Thursday, so every weekend is a 3-day weekend.

What You'll Do

  • Troubleshoot and repair production machinery, including printing presses and related equipment: mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.

  • Run and document the preventive maintenance (PM) program for all presses.

  • Diagnose electrical faults on motors, drives, controls, and 3-phase power using meters and other test equipment.

  • Disassemble, adjust, rebuild, and reassemble assemblies using prints, schematics, and manuals.

  • Fabricate and repair parts. This includes welding and torch/cutting work.

  • Handle secondary building and utility repairs (electrical, plumbing, air) that affect production.

  • Inspect product for color and shade consistency as part of quality checks.

  • Follow lockout/tagout and all safety procedures. Keep work areas clean and organized.

What You Need

  • 3–5 years of industrial maintenance experience on production machinery in a manufacturing plant. A combination of hands-on experience and technical schooling (industrial maintenance, electrical, or mechatronics) counts toward this.

  • Experience can come from any type of manufacturing that involves machinery. Printing experience is not required.

  • Mechanical troubleshooting skills: bearings, gearboxes, chains/belts, drives, pneumatics, hydraulics.

  • Working electrical knowledge, from reading schematics and electrical prints to safe troubleshooting.

  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.

  • Welding and cutting proficiency.

  • Your own hand tools.

  • High school diploma or GED.

  • LOTO-trained (or able to certify quickly).

Preferred

  • Printing press experience (flexographic, offset, or digital).

  • Thermoforming equipment experience.

  • Converting, packaging, or web-handling lines.

  • 3-phase/480V troubleshooting, VFDs, motor controls, PLC diagnostics.

  • Technical or vocational school training in industrial maintenance, electrical, or mechatronics.

  • Forklift and scissor/boom lift certification.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

  • Stand for up to 10 hours. Push, pull, kneel, reach, and lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Work at heights in lifts on occasion.

  • Ability to see fine detail and tell colors and shades apart for quality inspection.

  • Production floor with machine noise and vibration. Hearing protection required in designated areas.

  • On-site role.

Why This Role

  • 4-day work week, 3-day weekends every week.

  • 10% shift differential on top of base pay.

  • Paid training, including split shifts with day-shift maintenance before moving to full 2nd shift.

  • Stable, long-established manufacturer with an experienced maintenance team.

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this role. Our client is an equal opportunity employer.
