Schedule: This is a full-time, in-clinic position supporting a busy Mohs surgery practice.

We are a growing, multi-site dermatology practice serving patients throughout the Triangle region. Our team is committed to providing exceptional patient care and supporting our providers with efficient clinical and laboratory operations. We are seeking an experienced Histotechnician to join our surgical dermatology team.
Position Summary
The Mohs Histotechnician plays a critical role in the daily operation of our Mohs laboratory. This position is responsible for processing Mohs tissue specimens, preparing high-quality slides for microscopic examination, maintaining laboratory quality standards, and ensuring compliance with all applicable CLIA and OSHA regulations.
What You'll Do
- Process Mohs tissue specimens by embedding, sectioning, H&E staining, coverslipping, and preparing slides for review by the Mohs Surgeon
- Maintain accurate accession logs, quality control records, and laboratory documentation in compliance with CLIA and OSHA standards
- Perform daily equipment checks, maintain laboratory cleanliness, and ensure proper disinfection of work areas and instruments
- Organize and archive slides, monitor laboratory supplies, and assist with inventory management
- Collaborate closely with the Mohs Surgeon and surgical team to support efficient laboratory operations and high-quality patient care
- Assist with additional non-patient-care duties as needed to support the Mohs surgery team
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Experience working in a Mohs laboratory or histology laboratory
- Knowledge of CLIA and OSHA regulations and laboratory compliance standards
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced surgical dermatology environment
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate degree or higher
- HT or HTL certification
- Previous experience supporting a high-volume Mohs practice
- Dermatology experience
- Experience with laboratory quality assurance programs and documentation
