Job Description
The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating skid steers, forklifts, and processing of recyclable materials by hand, ensuring that they are sorted, stored, and prepared for further processing or shipping. This role requires physical stamina, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and environmental sustainability.
Job Duties
- Operate skid steers and manually sort recyclable materials such as paper, plastics, metals, and glass.
- Separate materials based on type, quality, and contamination.
- Remove non-recyclable items and contaminants from recycling stream.
- Load and unload materials from trucks and other transportation vehicles manually.
- Assist in the staging of materials for processing or shipping.
- Operate and maintain manual and semi-automated processing equipment.
- Break down large items or materials into manageable sizes for further processing.
- Ensure materials are prepared and ready for the next stage of the recycling process.
- Keep work areas clean and organized.
- Assist in the maintenance and cleaning of equipment and tools.
- Report any safety hazards or equipment malfunctions to the supervisor.
Work Environment
- Work is performed in a recycling facility with exposure to varying temperatures and weather conditions.
- Requires wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, safety glasses, and high-visibility vests.
- Physical demands include lifting and carrying materials up to 50 pounds, standing and bending for long periods, and performing repetitive tasks.
