Duties
- Maintain and update the general ledger using accounting software such as QuickBooks Online, Xero, Sage, or similar systems, ensuring all entries adhere to GAAP standards.
- Process payroll accurately and timely, including calculating wages, deductions, taxes, and benefits while ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
- Reconcile bank statements, credit card accounts, and other financial accounts through detailed bank reconciliation procedures.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable by verifying invoices, issuing payments, and tracking outstanding balances.
- Prepare journal entries for month-end closing activities and ensure proper documentation for audit purposes.
- Conduct balance sheet reconciliation regularly to verify the accuracy of asset, liability, and equity accounts.
- Generate detailed financial reports and assist in budgeting processes to support organizational planning.
Skills
- Proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks (including QuickBooks Online), Xero, Sage, and other financial systems.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles including double-entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, GAAP standards, and governmental accounting if applicable.
- Experience with payroll processing software and procedures for both non-profit and corporate entities.
- Ability to perform account analysis, account reconciliation, and general ledger reconciliation efficiently.
- Excellent spreadsheet skills using tools like Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets for data analysis and reporting.
- Familiarity with tax regulations related to payroll taxes and other financial obligations.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail; ability to handle multiple tasks such as journal entries, bank reconciliations, account analysis, and budget tracking simultaneously.
