Duties
- Install, repair, and troubleshoot fiber optic cables, telecommunication lines, and network infrastructure including LAN (Local Area Network) and WAN (Wide Area Network) systems.
- Operate heavy equipment such as bucket trucks and power tools safely to access elevated or hard-to-reach areas for cable installation and maintenance.
- Conduct fiber splicing with precision to ensure optimal signal integrity and performance.
- Interpret schematics, technical diagrams, and construction plans to guide installation and repair activities.
- Perform routine inspections of low voltage electrical systems and IT infrastructure components.
- Use hand tools and power tools effectively for cabling, electrical work, and construction tasks while adhering to safety standards.
- Document all work performed accurately in service logs and update network schematics as needed.
- Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot network issues related to Ethernet ensuring minimal downtime.
Experience
- Proven experience in field service roles involving telecommunication systems or IT infrastructure installation and maintenance.
- Demonstrated ability to operate heavy equipment such as bucket trucks safely in various environments.
- Skilled in fiber splicing techniques with a solid understanding of optical signal transmission principles.
- Strong background in cabling—including copper and fiber optic—and electrical wiring within construction or telecommunications settings.
- Familiarity with computer networking concepts like LAN, Ethernet, WAN, and low voltage electrical systems.
- Ability to read schematics, technical diagrams, and construction plans accurately for installation projects.
- Experience working with hand tools, power tools, power tools, and climbing equipment while maintaining safety protocols.
- Knowledge of telephony systems, network infrastructure components, and electrical safety standards is highly desirable.
