Assistant Early Childhood Director
The JCCNS Early Childhood Program in Marblehead, MA is an award winning program that welcomes children age 3 months to pre-Kindergarten ages. We are proud to be named the region best preschool again this year by The Readers’ Choice Awards. We are seeking a MA-EEC Director 1 certified candidate to assist the Early Childhood Director. The ideal candidate would hold a current MA-EEC Director 1 certification, have prior years of experience teaching in an infant/toddler and /or preschool classroom, and have prior management experience in an office setting.
As an Assistant Early Childhood Director your responsibilities will include:
- Support the Early Childhood Director with the overall Early Childhood Program.
- Be a team player who establishes positive, respectful and professional relationships with children, parents, teachers, colleagues and JCCNS members and community.
- Support and uphold JCCNS and Early Childhood policies and philosophy and help ensure staff understands and adheres to them.
- Maintain confidentiality about issues regarding staff members, children and families
- Show respect for individual differences including learning styles, cultural differences, points of views and individual preferences.
- Continue professional growth by attending courses, workshops, and asking for feedback.
- Demonstrate knowledge of ages and stages of development. Demonstrate flexibility and openness to new ideas and under Director’s guidance develop and implement plans.
- Keep the director informed on issues regarding Early Childhood Program
- Assist the EC Director in planning daily staffing schedules and finding substitutes
(specifically preschool)
- Participate and assist in planning staff meetings, trainings and events.
- Be accessible and available to parents every day and respond promptly and in collaboration with Director to their requests and concerns.
- Support Director in establishing and sustaining sense of community through parent involvement and promoting parent retention.
- Assist Director with follow up of all phone messages and center inquires within 24 hours.
- Support Director in efforts to increase and maintain enrollment in center.
- Conduct professional and thorough parent tours.
- Cover in classroom if necessary
- Adhere to and ensure that all staff understand and follow all health, safety and emergency protocol.
- Follow all state regulations.
General Management Responsibilities
- Knowledgeable in processing programs: Microsoft Word and Excel as well as ProCare, Spectrum, Paylocity.
- Ensure all paperwork is complete before new child begins. Regularly maintain and update children’s files (with administrative assistant). Help with registration and enrollment information for families.
Education, Skills and Qualifications:
- MA- EEC Director 1 License (MUST)
- Possess a high standard of personal integrity
- Excellent communication, organizational and management skills are required
- Ability to remain patient and able to multi-task efficiently
- Minimum of an Associate Degree in Early Education and/or related field required.
- Bachelor’s Degree or working towards a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Education is preferred.
- Relevant work experience
- Current First Aid/CPR certification or willingness to obtain is required.
- Must pass: (CORI/SORI/DCF/Fingerprinting)
- Provide 2 references upon request

Compensation and Benefits:

Position: Full Time Monday through Friday 9 am-6 pm.
