What are the responsibilities and job description for the One to One Aide position at JCC of Mid-Westchester?
Job Summary
One to One Aides are responsible for assisting a pre-school age child with day to day activities in their classroom. This may include participating in play activities, eating, toileting, attending to classroom lessons and navigation of the classroom and playground. Aides work under the direction of a certified special education teacher. Candidates should be patient, energetic, and compassionate as they participate in the student’s ability to be successful every day.
Key Responsibilities and Expectations:
· Provide for the well-being, education and supervision of children in the classroom throughout the day as directed by the Teacher.
· Assist child in all activities of daily living while promoting independence.
· Supervise assigned child at all times, including during busing and transitional activities.
· Demonstrate a consistent, nurturing manner toward all children.
· Shares all relevant information related to assigned child with the teachers, and therapy staff.
Skills, Education and Experience
- 1 year of relevant field experience working with children with special needs
- Positive interpersonal skills.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
