Job Summary
The Member Engagement Specialist fosters a welcoming climate and seamless experience for all patrons, visitors, guests, students, staff, and the larger community. This individual is front-facing and communicates with current and prospective members. This includes conducting tours, managing reception and check-in, supporting registration for programs, handling inquiries and feedback, answering phone calls and emails, receiving new members, entering information into the membership database, and processing and tracking payments. A high quality of engagement with all current and prospective members and program participants is expected.
Flexible full time position, 30 - 40 hours with some evenings and one weekend each week (typically Sundays)
Key Responsibilities and Expectations:
- Develop goals and action plans with senior management for membership development and retention.
- Communicate and collaborate with fellow staff, volunteers, and patrons.
- Facilitate the flow of information between departments and customers.
- Support scheduling, updating calendars, and member communications.
- Facilitate program registration setup for all JCC programs (Nursery school, Gala, Swim, Gymnastics, Summer Camp, Memberships, one off events, etc.)
- Conduct shifts at the Customer Service desk, responding to inquiries from patrons in person, on the phone and through email within 24 hours.
- Conduct shifts at the Reception desk at the building entrance to facilitate check-in and patron arrivals.
- Facilitate Fitness, Rental and other program planning, setup and implementation.
- Review and maintain the website with accurate and up to date information.
- Conduct tours for scheduled appointments and drop-in prospects.
- Utilize various systems, including CRM and room reservation systems. Conduct data entry and maintain the customer database.
- Other duties as assigned by the Senior Manager of Member Engagement.
Skills, Education and Experience
- Background in customer service.
- Prior experience working with membership databases.
- Excellent verbal and nonverbal communication skills
- Excellent listening skills
- Strong work ethic that includes punctuality, organization, and attention to detail
- Ability to maintain a friendly, enthusiastic, and positive attitude
Physical Requirements
The physical demands must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job, including movement within an office environment. The role requires the ability to write by hand and use a keyboard to perform general office functions. Also requires the ability to communicate by speech and hearing continuously. Visual acuity is needed for detailed work, and computer use. The ability to sit for extended periods of time is also a requirement. Ability to lift up to 20lbs.
