Position Title: Lifeguard
Reports to: Aquatics Director of JCC
Classification: Part Time/Hourly
**Looking for early morning, 5am shift!
The JCC of Greater New Haven lifeguard will serve as an integral part of the Aquatics team. The primary responsibility of the Lifeguard is to prevent accidents, respond swiftly to emergencies, and provide excellent customer service. The successful candidate will possess strong swimming abilities, exceptional communication skills, and a thorough understanding of water safety protocols. This job will also include keeping attendance, taking pool chemicals, and maintaining a clean facility.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintain constant surveillance of patrons in the facility; act immediately and appropriately to
secure the safety of patrons in the event of an emergency.
Provide emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services.
Always present a professional appearance and attitude and maintain a high standard of customer
service.
Perform various maintenance duties as directed to maintain a clean and safe facility.
Prepare and maintain appropriate incident reports.
Occasionally attend in-service training outside of regular working hours.
Monitor and record pool water quality and temperature, ensuring they meet the required standards.
Assist in the setup and takedown of pool equipment and facilities.
Provide instruction and guidance to individuals participating in swimming lessons or other aquatic
programs.
Report any incidents, accidents, or maintenance issues promptly to the appropriate authorities.
Requirements
Red Cross Lifeguard certification (including CPR, 1st Aid, AED, Blood borne pathogen
training)
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $16.35 - $18.00 per hour
