Job Summary
The Storage Crew Lead is a working lead reporting directly to the Storage Manager and assisting in the daily operations within onion storage facilities, ensuring proper handling, curing, ventilation, and inventory management to maintain product quality.
General Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead, train, and supervise crew members in receiving, storing, and handling onions
- Assign tasks to crew members
- Safely operate and oversee equipment such as forklifts and conveyor systems
- Inspect onions regularly for spoilage, disease, or damage and take corrective action
- Coordinate loading and unloading of onion bins, trucks, and storage systems
- Enforce food safety standards and sanitation procedures
- Maintain cleanliness of storage areas to prevent contamination and pests
- Troubleshoot minor mechanical issues and report repair needs
- Monitor and report storage conditions and operational issues to management
- Perform physical labor, including moving bins and operating equipment
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- 3–5 years of forklift operation experience
- Basic mechanical knowledge, including conveyors, motors, and gearboxes
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and work outside in varying temperatures
Preferred Qualifications
- Forklift Certification
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) to effectively communicate with crew members
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience in agriculture, onion or crop storage
- Prior supervisory or crew lead experience
Work Environment:
- Work takes place in onion storage warehouses, sheds, or controlled atmosphere facilities
- Exposure to dust, strong odors, and varying temperatures
- Physically demanding work including lifting, climbing, and extended standing
- Seasonal workload fluctuations with potential for long hours during harvest and storage periods

Please note this position has the potential to expand into a full-time, benefits eligible position. Starting rate is $18.00 per hour, however pay rate will depend on experience.
