Evaluation and Data Analyst (Social Sciences and Public Health)

We are seeking an Evaluation and Data Analyst, Research Assistant III, to support research and evaluation projects focused on national service, public health, and other mission-driven initiatives. This position supports data collection activities, prepares and organizes datasets, assists with data analysis, develops visualizations and reports, and contributes to high-quality client deliverables. This position is well suited for candidates with strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and an interest in applied research and program evaluation.

*****This is a hybrid position requiring at least two days per week onsite at either our San Mateo, CA or North Bethesda, MD office.*****

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Data Collection and Survey Support

• Support survey administration and participant tracking activities.
• Assist with developing and testing online surveys and data collection tools.
• Help monitor response rates and data collection progress.
• Organize and maintain study documentation, data dictionaries, and tracking files.
• Assist with participant recruitment and communications as needed.

Data Management and Quality Assurance

• Clean, organize, and prepare datasets for analysis.
• Conduct routine data quality checks and identify inconsistencies.
• Merge, format, label, and archive datasets according to project protocols.
• Maintain documentation of data processing activities.

Data Analysis and Visualization

• Conduct descriptive statistical analyses under guidance from senior staff.
• Support quantitative analyses using statistical software such as SAS, R, Python, or Stata.
• Create tables, charts, dashboards, and other visualizations in Excel and Power BI to communicate findings.
• Assist with interpretation of results and preparation of analytic summaries.

Reporting and Research Support

• Conduct literature reviews and summarize research findings.

• Assist in preparing reports, presentations, briefs, and client-ready materials.
• Compile data, references, and supporting materials for project deliverables.
• Review documents for accuracy, consistency, and formatting.

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Sociology, Community Psychology, Statistics, Social Sciences, Statistics or a similar field

Experience:

• 2 years of experience comprising of 1 year of focus research experience conducting quantitative survey research

Technical Skills:

• Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, MS Access)
• Experience with SAS, R, or other statistical packages
• Experience with Python and SQL
• Familiarity with survey platforms (e.g., Alchemer, Qualtrics, SurveyMonkey).
• Understand data management and quantitative research methods.

Location:

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to sit for prolonged periods at a desk or computer workstation
• Regularly uses a computer, keyboard, and mouse
• Normal or corrected vision to read documents, view computer screens, and perform tasks that require visual accuracy
• Ability to hear and understand spoken information in person and over the phone Minimal lifting and carrying may be required, typically light office supplies or documents
• Ability to move within the office environment to access equipment, files, and interact with colleagues
• Ability to handle occasional stress related to deadlines, workloads, or challenging tasks

This position is subject to availability of funds and to any and all restrictions contained in the contract or contracts that provide funding for this position.

Compensation is determined by years of directly relevant experience, education, certifications, specialized skills, contract labor category requirements, and internal equity considerations. Final salary offers may vary within the posted range.

Salary Range: $55,750 - $63,875 annually
