The primary purpose of this position is: To serve as a 62 MXG Air Force Engineering and Technical Services (AFETS)avionics specialist and technical expert advisor on complex and sophisticated avionics systems/equipment to supportsubordinate units.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-09, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes working as a skilled mechanic or maintenance worker, sales or service engineer, or planner or estimator in a technical group dealing with manufacture, utilization, repair, or operation of equipment. Reviewing and applying technical specifications and requirements. Analyzing equipment and forecasting spare parts requirements. Reading and interpreting engineering change orders, equipment requisitions, shop orders, and work orders. Analyzing contract specifications and examining pertinent equipment to determine if specifications are met. Analyzing or supervising maintenance, repair, or production operations to determine methods of improvement. Knowledge of a comprehensive range of maintenance concepts, principles, and practices related to the systems/equipment to be used in the workplace, including those that have complex technical requirements and require extensive specialized training and experience. Specialized practical and theoretical knowledge of assigned systems/equipment for application to difficult and complex situations and problems that have no clear precedent in order to oversee and implement a program involving the identification and resolution of difficult issues or problems such as determining systems/equipment deficiencies and appropriate resolutions.

EDUCATION: EDUCATION: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position or LL.M., if related. NOTE: You must submit a copy of transcripts.

COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. NOTE: You must submit a copy of transcripts.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-09 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-11 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.

Responsibilities:
- Serves as the 62 MXG technical expert advisor to senior leaders and maintenance technicians in the maintenance, operation, and training related to complex and sophisticated systems and equipment.
- Provides expert systems/equipment advice and recommendations to senior leaders and maintenance technicians.
- Provides technical assistance to assigned unit in resolving complex system/equipment problems or design deficiencies.
- Prepares informal training to include over-the-shoulder, classroom, demonstration, one-on-one, and spontaneoustraining.
