About the position: This position will be assigned to the Outdoor Recreation Center on Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson.
This is a Regular Full-Time position.
Regular Full-Time employees have a regular and continuous work schedule of at least 35 hours to a maximum of 40 hours per week. In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.
Qualifying Experience:
Must have knowledge and experience in plumbing, carpentry, and painting trades/occupations. Must have demonstrated the ability to troubleshoot and determine the need for repair and servicing of facilities, utilities, and equipment. Experience which demonstrates the ability to manipulate both tractor and equipment controls at the same time; knowledge of equipment to make connection on mechanical drive shafts and hydraulic lines; and skill to manipulate equipment over different types of terrain. Must have experience in operating and performing maintenance on field-type tractors and associated equipment. Must be able to lift, bend, and work in awkward positions both indoors and outdoors. Must be able to lift objects weighing up to 40 pounds and heavier with assistance. Must possess a valid motor vehicle operator's license. Must successfully complete a pre-employment physical. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI). Must satisfactorily complete a drug test.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of equipment to make sure they are in good mechanical and safe operating condition. Performs routine inspection and minor maintenance on all vehicles assigned to Outdoor Recreation. Uses and maintains tools and equipment. Utilizes hand and power tools such as but not limited to: drills, power saws, routers, standard hand tolls, straight edge, chalk line, tapes, rules, caulking items, pipe wrenches, rollers, putty knife, etc. Must maintain all current certification required to complete all assigned tasks (i.e. HAZMAT, Safety, Motor Vehicle Operating, etc). Drives/operates vehicles/equipment weighing up to 10,000 pounds at various locations both on and off base. Operates field-type tractors with attachments to maintain the grasses and brush in all areas. Operates Snow Removal and Grooming Equipment to include Snow Maker.Performs other related duties.
