We are seeking an engineering focused Vehicle Technician to support the readiness of a fleet of vehicles. The Vehicle Technician will perform vehicle maintenance and repairs while contributing to day to day lab and shop operations.

This role includes scheduled service, diagnostics, repair coordination, lab space fit and function, and general shop upkeep.

Responsibilities

• Configure, set up, maintain, diagnose, and sign off on vehicles for safe on road use
• Travel locally from time to time as needed to perform vehicle related work
• Coordinate with the Shop Foreman to ensure vehicles are in a ready state for demonstration and testing requirements
• Perform vehicle diagnostics and escalate issues to the appropriate engineering team when required
• Coordinate and drive the vehicle repair process
• Create diagnostic test plans as needed by the team
• Maintain service records and document quality field reports
• Maintain shop facilities and ensure tools, equipment, and workspaces are organized and in excellent working condition
• Assist with parts inventory, location, and organization
• Provide an excellent service experience for internal teams and business partners
• Operate a forklift and/or gantry as required

Qualifications

• Extensive knowledge of the methods, techniques, parts, tools, and materials used in vehicle maintenance and repair
• Minimum of 2 to 4 years of technician experience
• Valid driver's license with a clean/excellent driving record
• Reliable, self starting, roll up your sleeves work ethic
• Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects and deliverables
• Strong team player
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Honest, responsible, and an outstanding communicator
• Ability to successfully complete a background check, Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check, and drug screen
• Must comply with the applicable Substance Abuse Policy
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
• Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of 8 hours, depending on equipment type
• Ability to operate a forklift and/or gantry. All required forklift operator training and certifications compliant with applicable OSHA standards will be provided
• Must wear safety boots that conform to ASTM F2412 / F2413 requirements. Composite toe safety boots are acceptable provided they meet these requirements

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in an automotive focused engineering or research lab, such as a dyno, battery, or similar environment
• Knowledge of CAN systems, wiring diagrams, and soldering
• Technical trade school certificate or Associate Degree in automotive repair
• Ability to travel locally and nationally on occasion
