JB STEEL is seeking to add a Structural Steel Project Manager to our team.
Who we’re looking for
The Structrual Steel Project Manager leads the overall project to ensure success. They execute all aspects of construction including schedules, designs, permits, and budgets. Working with trade partners, field operations, and architects, this role ensures projects meet company standards and client expectations within set timelines. The Project Manager directs all phases of construction, from planning to closeout, aligning efforts with organizational goals and industry benchmarks. As the main stakeholder contact, the Project Manager resolves conflicting priorities and complex issues for successful project completion.
Responsibilities
- Oversee all aspects of structrual steel construction projects, from inception to completion.
- Develop detailed project plans, budgets, and schedules in collaboration with senior leadership and key stakeholders.
- Manage contracts, negotiate terms with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers, and ensure all parties meet contractual obligations.
- Supervise and guide cross-functional teams, assigning clear roles and responsibilities; provide mentorship and performance feedback.
- Proactively forecast project costs and produce comprehensive production reports that support continuous improvement.
- Monitor project progress, proactively identify risks and implement mitigation strategies to avoid delays or cost overruns. Recognize change conditions and notify appropriate parties.
- Coordinate regulatory compliance, permitting, and inspections.
- Facilitate regular project meetings, maintain transparent communication, and deliver progress reports to clients and executives.
- Manage project resources, i.e. staff, equipment, materials, and subcontractors.
- Ensure project cost and time is entered and coded accurately, reflecting hours worked and tasks worked on; assigns cost codes to all purchases, timecards, contracts, equipment time and any other item involving cost.
- Maintain accurate and complete project records and documentation i.e. as-built drawings, submittal and RFI logs.
- Enforce high standards of quality and safety throughout all project phases.
- Ensure proper project documentation and closeout, including warranty. Evaluate and close out project deliverables and lessons learned.
- Actively promote JB Steel’s Mission Vision & Values by providing leadership and guidance, fostering a positive work environment.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil engineering, or related field.
- Minimum 7 years of commercial construction management experience.
- Excellent leadership and organizational skills.
- Advanced proficiency in project management software.
- Strong financial acumen and negotiation abilities.
- Demonstratable ability to read and understand construction plan drawings.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials and regulations.

- Have relevant certifications such as PMP, CCM, etc.
- OSHA 30 Training.
- The ability to speak both English and Spanish.
