Facilities Maintenance Technician

Position Summary

J.B. Passmore, Inc. is seeking a dependable and professional Facilities Maintenance Technician to perform routine facility maintenance, inspections, preventive maintenance, and minor repairs at existing commercial locations.

This position is focused on maintaining the condition, safety, appearance, and operation of existing facilities. The technician will complete assigned maintenance work orders, document conditions and completed work, and identify issues that require specialized or licensed trade support.

Primary Responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance at existing commercial facilities.
• Complete general facility maintenance and minor repair work.
• Repair or adjust existing doors, hardware, shelving, fixtures, trim, and other building components.
• Perform minor patching, touch-up painting, caulking, and cosmetic repairs.
• Address minor plumbing-related maintenance such as replacing simple fixtures, clearing minor stoppages, or correcting small leaks when within authorized scope.
• Address minor electrical maintenance such as replacing lamps, bulbs, covers, or similar components when within authorized scope.
• Perform minor repairs to existing drywall, flooring, tile, and finishes.
• Inspect facility conditions and identify maintenance needs.
• Recognize work that requires a licensed contractor, specialized trade, construction work, or significant replacement and report those conditions for escalation.
• Complete assigned facility-maintenance work orders in a timely and professional manner.
• Maintain accurate notes, photographs, and documentation of work performed.
• Use CompanyCam and other company-required systems to document site conditions and completed work.
• Maintain company tools, equipment, and vehicle in a clean and safe condition.
• Follow customer requirements, company procedures, and applicable safety standards.
• Communicate professionally with customers, coordinators, managers, and other service providers.

Scope of Position

This position primarily performs routine maintenance and minor repairs to existing facilities and building components.

The position is not intended to independently perform major construction, remodeling, structural modifications, or specialized trade work requiring a licensed plumber, electrician, HVAC contractor, or other licensed professional.

When work exceeds the technician's authorized maintenance scope, the technician is responsible for identifying the condition, documenting it, and escalating it for appropriate specialized service.

Qualifications

• Experience in commercial facility maintenance, property maintenance, or a related field preferred.
• General knowledge of building maintenance and repair.
• Ability to identify basic maintenance issues and determine when specialized assistance is required.
• Ability to safely use common hand and power tools.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and follow established procedures.
• Ability to document work clearly through written notes and photographs.
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
• Ability to travel between assigned customer locations.
• Must be comfortable working night shifts, with occasional day work.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, reach, and climb ladders as required for routine facility maintenance.
• Ability to safely lift and carry materials, tools, and equipment normally associated with facility-maintenance work.
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying commercial environments.

Work Environment

Work is performed primarily at existing retail, restaurant, and commercial facilities. The position involves routine maintenance, inspection, minor repair, and general upkeep activities intended to help maintain the facility in safe and serviceable condition.
