Job Overview
JB Fabrication is seeking an experienced Lead Welder/Fabricator to oversee and execute welding and fabrication of structural steel assemblies.
The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills in structural welding, blueprint reading, and fabrication processes, ensuring high-quality workmanship in accordance with industry standards.
This role requires leadership capabilities to guide a team of welders and fabricators, maintain safety protocols, and uphold project deadlines.
Candidate must have experience in welding structural steel with heavy emphasis on blue print reading and meeting deadlines while working in a fast paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to determine project requirements.
- Operate power tools, hand tools, plasma cutters, press brake machines, and other fabrication equipment such as the press brake machine for shaping metal components.
- Extreme attention to details and tolerances.
- Perform MIG welding utilizing dual shield.
- Lead and coordinate welding and fabrication activities across multiple projects, ensuring adherence to specifications and safety standards.
- Measure materials accurately using tape measures and other precision instruments; perform basic math calculations for fabrication tasks.
- Manage rigging operations including operating forklifts and loading trucks when necessary .
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment; inspect completed work for quality assurance.
- Collaborate with managers to meet project timelines and quality expectations.
Requirements
- Dual Shield Welding
- Strong knowledge of blueprint reading and schematics
- Skilled in tape measures, hand tools, power tools, Oxy Acetylene, and other fabrication tools.
- Experience with forklift operation is a plus.
- Basic math skills necessary for measurements and calculations related to fabrication tasks.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail; ability to read schematics accurately.
- Strong leadership qualities with the ability to supervise teams effectively in high paced environment.
- Ability to listen to managers and execute requests accordingly is a must.
Pay: $ $31.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40.0 per week
Education:
- High school or equivalent (Required)
Experience:
- MIG welding: 3 years (Required)
