You'll support various clients by handling essential accounting functions including AP/AR, reconciliations, and month-end close processes while delivering responsive, high-quality service. Key Responsibilities
Core Accounting & Close
- Code and post transactions; perform monthly reconciliations for bank, credit card, and loan accounts
- Manage accounts payable and receivable: process vendor bills, execute payment runs, and handle client invoicing
- Prepare and post journal entries with accuracy and attention to detail
- Prepare draft financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) with supporting schedules
- Assist with payroll entries and reconcile payroll-related liabilities
- Maintain organized, audit-ready workpapers and follow established firm procedures
- Prepare year-end financial statements
- Prepare and process year-end 1099 forms
Client Support & Communication
- Provide proactive status updates and timely responses to information requests
- Participate in client calls as needed; document action items and ensure follow-through
- Identify and escalate inconsistencies, cash flow issues, or timeline risks early
- Build positive working relationships with diverse client base
Process Improvement & Technology
- Work daily in QuickBooks Online plus integrated tools like Bill.com, Ramp, and Dext/Expensify
- Document simple procedures and process walkthroughs using tools like Avoma
- Suggest practical efficiency improvements when opportunities arise
- Adapt quickly to new software platforms as client needs evolve
Additional Responsibilities
- Support special projects and process improvements as assigned
- Collaborate with team members on cross-client initiatives
- Assist with training new team members as you develop expertise
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's or Associates degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; OR 1-3 years of accounting/bookkeeping experience (public accounting, client accounting services, or corporate environment)
- Basic to intermediate QuickBooks Online experience
- Fundamental knowledge of month-end close processes
- Basic Excel/Google Sheets skills (formulas, formatting)
- Understanding of basic GAAP principles with eagerness to continue learning
- Ability to manage multiple client deadlines simultaneously
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Willingness to learn new software platforms and adapt to different client systems
Preferred
- Experience with diverse industries such as restaurants, manufacturing, financial services, retail/apparel
- Familiarity with AP automation tools, expense management software, or project management platforms
- Intermediate Excel skills (pivot tables, vlookup, data analysis)
- Previous experience in a client service environment
