Cashier

GENERAL SUMMARY

Responsible for providing customers with fast and friendly service while ensuring accuracy at the sales counter. This person is expected to have a strong work ethic, be attentive to customer needs, be committed to providing excellent service, maintain a clean workspace, and encourage an atmosphere of teamwork the Store Lead promotes.

BENEFITS:

Team Members who work an average of 30 - 36 hours per week and have successfully completed six months of employment with the company will receive 20 hours of vacation per calendar year. Team Members who work an average of 30 hours per week or more also may receive three paid holidays throughout the calendar year.

PAY RANGE: $9.00 - $12.00

Starting pay is based upon experience.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for the register transactions involving sales and/or return of merchandise.

Maintain a minimum scan rate of 70%.

Customer Service

Project a positive representation of Ace Hardware.

Greet customers entering and throughout the store. Thank customers by name, when possible, when they are leaving the store.

Project a friendly outgoing demeanor, work well with customers as well as associates.

Clear customer checkout lines quickly and efficiently.

The ability to multitask is a requirement.

Answer and monitor all calls promptly, courteously, and effectively.

Communicate any problem or issue that requires management assistance.

Continually build product knowledge base and possess the ability to assist customers with store layout and product location.

Assist in pricing, stocking, marking, and bagging of merchandise.

Register Operations

Follow all cash register transaction procedures.

Adhere to any promotion that may require implementation at the cash registers.

Participate in store and cashier meetings.

Use Bag Stuffers properly and according to company policy

Register and Impulse Area Appearance and Upkeep

Impulse area; including checkout areas and entrance doors neat and clean.

Face and dust register and impulse areas.

Assist with keeping impulse counters stocked and faced and rotate fresh merchandise as seasons change.

Ensure fresh ads are always stocked in shopping carts.

Ensure forms and supplies are always stocked.

Assist with decorating the impulse area according to the Store Leads program.

Call for cart pickups when necessary.

Inform the team when merchandise returns need to be put away.

Perform all other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands or fingers; handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is required to stand, walk; and reach with hands and arms for the duration of their entire shift. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
