POSITION PURPOSE

The General Office Employee will ensure that all members, vendors, and general public visiting Jay County REMC will have a pleasant, courteous, and informed experience.

The specific objectives for this position and the responsibilities to be fulfilled include but are not limited to:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

To be successful in this role, an individual must be able to perform in a satisfactory manner the functions listed below. The Cooperative will provide reasonable accommodation to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these functions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The position of General Office Employee was created to help support the mission and core values of Jay County REMC. The Business Manager will guide the training and assign appropriate duties to this individual.

The following duties will be expected of a completely trained employee:

· Treat all members, employees and the general public with dignity, respect, tact, and diplomacy.

· Communications with members, employees and the general public must be made in a courteous manner.

· Process in-lobby member payments.

· Balance cash drawer daily.

· Oversee the process and completion of total deposit/bank deposit paperwork at end of each day and assure that it is ready for bank deposit the next morning.

· Review monthly bank reconciliations.

· Complete process on returned checks in accordance with established procedures.

· Assure member calls related to returned checks or payments are managed promptly, precisely, and courteously.

· Answer the phones.

· Participate in Annual Meeting as required.

· Process vendor invoices and accounts payable checks as directed.

· Post manual journal entries.

· Prepare member bills.

· Audits bills before mailing.

· Maintains budget billing.

· Keep record of service orders.

· Maintains member records including service, location, deposits, and fees.

· Maintain physical and virtual filing systems in good order.

· Aid in annual budget requirements as assigned by Business Manager.

· Attend and participate in seminars, meetings, conferences, and training as needed and approved.

· Become familiar with and abides by Jay County REMC’s safety rules and procedures.

· Take part in cooperative-related committees as needed.

· Back up in front office covering front desk taking payments as well as covering phones on a daily basis or when short staffed.

· Participate in monthly safety meetings and ongoing training.

OTHER FUNCTIONS

· Assists other department’s initiatives as requested.

· Performs other duties as assigned.

· Assists in restoration of outages as needed by answering phones and other clerical activities as needed.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

· None

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have an equivalent of the following education and/or experience.

· High School diploma or GED required

· Obtain and maintain a valid Indiana driver’s license.

· Obtain and maintain CPR and First Aid certifications with AED.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The environmental and physical demands described here are representative of those an individual must meet to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

· Primarily works in a climate-controlled environment, may occasionally be exposed to temperature variances.

· Normal working hours are 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Monday – Friday. It may be required to work for extended periods or varying schedules according to workload to complete duties and meet members' needs. Must be available to assist in any appropriate manner, and at any time, with restoration activities.

· Occasional out of town/state travel may be required to attend technical training/conferences.

· Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, eye-hand coordination, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus to calculate, determine the line of sight and accurately judge distances.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

· Must be able to pass random drug and alcohol tests, driver’s license checks, and criminal history background checks.

· Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Indiana driver's license.

· Must be able to prove eligibility to work in the United States.

· Must have a high school diploma or GED.

· Must be willing and able to work hours in addition to regularly scheduled office hours, as business needs requirements.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $23.00 - $26.00 per hour
