Responsibilities
- Support dentists during various procedures, including chairside assisting and four-handed dentistry techniques
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental tools, and ensuring aseptic technique standards are met
- Take and develop dental X-rays, including digital imaging and 3D scans, while maintaining proper safety protocols - on the job training if available
- Assist with patient intake by taking vital signs, medical history, and explaining procedures clearly
- Manage patient records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Dentrix, EagleSoft, etc, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Maintain infection control standards by following proper sterilization procedures and handling dental materials appropriately
- Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, answering phones as a dental receptionist, and managing medical documentation
Qualifications
- Enthusiastic about starting a career in dentistry with no prior experience necessary — training provided!
- Basic understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and general dentistry concepts preferred but not required
- Willingness to learn medical terminology, medical coding, and electronic health record systems like Dentrix or Eaglesoft
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills for managing medical records and documentation
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism and compassion for patients
- Knowledge of infection control practices and aseptic techniques is a plus but not mandatory; training will be provided
- Prior experience in dental assisting or pediatric dentistry is advantageous but not essential
