Position Overview
JAX Mechanical is seeking motivated Entry-Level and Experienced Commercial Boiler & HVAC/R Service Technicians to join our growing team.
This position provides hands-on training and career advancement opportunities for individuals interested in commercial mechanical systems. Technicians will assist with and perform installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, startup, and inspection of commercial boiler systems, HVAC equipment, refrigeration equipment, pumps, controls, piping systems, and related mechanical equipment.
This role may begin as part-time and transition into a full-time position based on workload, performance, and California employment compliance requirements.
Top pay is available for experienced commercial boiler and HVAC/R technicians.
Responsibilities
- Install, service, repair, and maintain commercial boiler systems.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot steam, hot water, hydronic, and combustion systems.
- Service and repair commercial HVAC and refrigeration equipment.
- Perform preventative maintenance inspections and system evaluations.
- Assist with piping, pumps, valves, controls, and equipment replacement projects.
- Conduct combustion analysis, startup procedures, and operational testing.
- Read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, and service manuals.
- Complete service reports, inspection reports, and maintenance documentation accurately.
- Maintain a safe and professional work environment.
- Communicate effectively with customers, property managers, vendors, and team members.
- Participate in ongoing technical training and certification programs.
- Follow OSHA and company safety procedures.

Qualifications
Entry-Level Technician
- 0–2 years of experience in mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, construction, or related trades.
- Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.
- Basic knowledge of hand and power tools.
- Strong work ethic and positive attitude.
- Desire to build a long-term career in the mechanical trades.
Experienced Technician
- 2 years of experience servicing commercial boilers, HVAC/R systems, plumbing systems, or related mechanical equipment.
- Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues.
- Knowledge of combustion systems, hydronics, steam systems, and controls preferred.
- Ability to work independently and manage service calls.
Preferred Skills & Certifications
- Commercial boiler service experience
- Commercial HVAC/R troubleshooting and repair
- Hydronic and steam system knowledge
- Building Automation Systems (BAS)
- Combustion analysis
- Electrical troubleshooting
- Welding, brazing, soldering, or pipefitting experience
- EPA Certification
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification
- Strong customer service and communication skills
Requirements
- Valid California Driver's License with a clean driving record.
- Reliable transportation.
- Ability to pass background screening and drug testing if required.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
- Ability to climb ladders and work on rooftops.
- Ability to work in mechanical rooms, crawl spaces, and confined areas.
- Ability to stand, kneel, bend, and perform physical labor throughout the workday.
- Ability to work in varying weather and jobsite conditions.
