Position Summary

The Maintenance Technician is a hands-on role responsible for keeping JawsTec’s production equipment and facility running reliably. This position performs day-to-day maintenance and repairs, executes the preventive maintenance program, and carries out facility improvement projects that support a safe, efficient, and well-organized production environment.

This role works under the direction of the Operations Manager but is expected to operate with a high degree of independence. Success in this role looks like fewer breakdowns, faster repairs, a cleaner and better-organized facility, and equipment that consistently runs at full capability.

Core Responsibilities

This position is organized around three focused areas of responsibility:

1. Maintenance & Repair

Perform hands-on maintenance and repair work across all production equipment, support systems, and facility infrastructure. Respond quickly to breakdowns to minimize production downtime.

  • Diagnose and repair issues with industrial 3D printers, powder handling equipment, and post-processing stations
  • Perform mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and pneumatic repairs on production and facility systems
  • Service support equipment including air compressors, dryers, HVAC components, vacuum systems, and powder recovery equipment

  • Maintain a clean, organized maintenance area and keep tools, parts, and supplies properly stored
  • Follow all safety protocols including lockout/tagout, PPE requirements, and electrical safety procedures

2. Preventive Maintenance

Execute and help manage the preventive maintenance program to keep all equipment running at peak reliability. Catch problems before they become breakdowns.

  • Carry out scheduled preventive maintenance tasks on all production equipment according to manufacturer specifications and internal PM schedules
  • Perform routine inspections of printers, compressors, electrical panels, and facility systems to identify wear, leaks, or developing issues
  • Track and update PM completion records in the MES Fleet Health module; ensure equipment status is always current and accurate
  • Maintain a parts and consumables inventory for common PM tasks; flag low stock and submit reorder requests
  • Identify recurring issues and recommend changes to PM frequency, procedures, or replacement parts
  • Help build and refine PM checklists, work instructions, and documentation for each piece of equipment
  • Track equipment hours, cycles, and maintenance history to anticipate upcoming service needs
  • Coordinate with the Operations Manager to schedule PM work during low-impact production windows

3. Facility Improvement

Carry out facility improvement projects that make the production environment safer, more efficient, and better organized. Take ownership of the physical workspace.

  • Execute facility improvement projects including shelving, workstations, storage systems, signage, and workflow layout changes
  • Run conduit, pull wire, install outlets and breakers, and perform basic electrical work for new equipment and facility upgrades
  • Install and modify compressed air lines, plumbing runs, and exhaust ventilation as needed for new equipment or process improvements
  • Assist with site preparation and installation of new production equipment including layout, leveling, utility hookup, and commissioning support
  • Build or modify fixtures, carts, racks, and tooling that support production efficiency
  • Identify opportunities to improve facility organization, workflow, safety, and cleanliness; propose and execute solutions
  • Source materials and supplies for projects; coordinate with the Operations Manager on purchase orders and contractor scheduling when needed
  • Maintain facility infrastructure documentation including electrical layouts, air line routing, and equipment locations
