Javelin Logistics Company, Inc. is a leading provider of forwarding, transportation, and distribution services, is currently seeking full time Inventory Control Specialist to work in their Newark, CA warehouse.
Job Overview:
The Inventory Control is responsible for maintaining inventory accuracy through analysis, cycle count management, reconciliation, and investigation of inventory discrepancies. This role ensures system inventory accurately reflects physical inventory by identifying root causes of variances, supporting operational corrections, and maintaining accurate inventory reporting. Inventory Control works closely with receiving, shipping, and administrative teams to prevent inventory errors and support efficient warehouse operations. Success in this role is demonstrated through high inventory accuracy, timely inventory resolution of discrepancies, reliable reporting, and proactive identification of process improvements.
Pay Range: $23 to $26 per hour.
Shift: Mon-Fri, 9am to 5:30pm
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Cycle Count Program Management
· Execute and manage daily cycle counting activities based on established schedules and priorities.
· Ensure counts are completed accurately and on time.
· Adjust count priorities based on operational risk or inventory movement.
· Verify count accuracy and re-count when necessary.
Inventory Analysis & Reconciliation
· Investigate inventory variances and determine root causes.
· Analyze discrepancies related to receiving, put-away, picking, or shipping errors.
· Reconcile system inventory with physical inventory where appropriate.
· Document findings and corrective actions.
System Accuracy & Data Management
· Perform authorized WMS inventory adjustments.
· Ensure inventory transactions accurately reflect physical movement.
· Monitor location accuracy and correct mislocated inventory.
· Maintain detailed records of investigations and adjustments.
Inventory Monitoring & Trend Identification
· Monitor inventory accuracy trends and recurring issues.
· Identify process gaps contributing to inventory errors.
· Provide recommendations to leadership to improve inventory accuracy.
· Support continuous improvement initiatives related to inventory control.
KPI Entry & Reporting
· Maintain inventory accuracy metrics within the Daily KPI/Metric Log.
· Track cycle count completion, variance trends, and adjustment activity.
· Prepare inventory-related reports for operational review.
· Verify accuracy of reported data prior to submission.
Daily Huddle Support
· Provide daily updates during operational huddles including:
· Inventory accuracy status and recent variances.
· Cycle count completion status.
· Empty space or available locations impacting storage capacity.
· Inventory risks or issues impacting receiving or shipping.
· Opportunities for process or space improvement.
· Communicate findings clearly to support operational decision-making and planning.
Communication & Operational Coordination
· Communicate inventory discrepancies impacting order fulfillment or receiving operations.
· Coordinate with receiving and shipping teams to resolve issues promptly.
· Provide updates and follow-ups on inventory investigations as needed.
Team Support & Cross-Functional Assistance
· Support other warehouse functions (receiving, put-away, picking, cycle counts, housekeeping) when needed and as directed.
· Assist the team while maintaining ownership of assigned shipping responsibilities.
· Demonstrate flexibility to support overall operational flow.
Safety & Compliance
· Follow all safety policies and PPE requirements.
· Maintain safe and organized work areas.
· Report unsafe conditions immediately.
Ownership & Performance Expectations
· Maintain high inventory accuracy of above 99%.
· Investigate and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
· Provide clear analysis and communication of inventory and space conditions.
· Support operational teams while maintaining inventory control standards.
· Maintain accurate system data and reporting.
Qualifications and Experience:
· 2-3 years’ experience with Inventory Control
· Forklift-Stand up, Sit Down, Order Picking, Receiving experience.
· High School Diploma.
· Must be able to speak and write English.
