Elder Abuse Paralegal
J&Y Law | Plaintiff-Side Elder Abuse & Personal Injury

Our Elder Abuse team is growing, and we are seeking a detail-oriented Paralegal / Calendar Clerk to support litigation and ensure cases move forward efficiently and accurately.

Key Responsibilities
I. Litigation & Case Management
Manage a full caseload of elder abuse and personal injury litigation matters
Draft and assist with:
Interrogatories
Requests for Production
Requests for Admission
Discovery responses and verifications
Assist with:
Pleadings, motions, and trial preparation
Deposition preparation and coordination
Trial binders and exhibit preparation
Track discovery deadlines and litigation timelines
Support attorneys with case strategy and trial readiness
Maintain accurate and organized case files
Proactively flag upcoming deadlines and conflicts
Coordinate scheduling with attorneys, staff, courts, and vendors
Maintain accurate calendaring within Litify, Filevine, or similar case management systems
2. Client & Medical Coordination
Communicate with clients and family members professionally and compassionately
Obtain, organize, and summarize medical records and billing
Coordinate expert reviews and document requests
Assist with damages documentation and liability support
3. Case Systems & Litigation Support
Maintain case files in Litify, Filevine, or equivalent systems
Ensure accuracy of docket entries and litigation workflows
Assist with e-filing and service of documents
Support attorneys with case audits and deadline compliance
Required Qualifications
3 years of litigation paralegal experience (elder abuse or PI strongly preferred)
Demonstrated experience managing litigation deadlines and calendars
Strong knowledge of:
California Rules of Civil Procedure
Discovery deadlines
Litigation workflow
Experience with Litify, Filevine, or similar case management systems
Highly organized with strong attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Reliable, proactive, and deadline-driven
Preferred Qualifications
Elder Abuse & Dependent Adult Civil Protection Act experience
Trial preparation experience
Experience managing high-volume litigation caseloads
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Accuracy of calendaring and deadline compliance
Timeliness and quality of discovery responses
Zero missed court or statutory deadlines
Quality of case organization and documentation
Responsiveness to attorneys and clients
Efficiency in managing litigation workflow
