Java Island Coffee Drive Thru

Compensation: $15/hr Tips (average pay with tips = $20-25/hr) Tips are cashed out at the end of every shift. Hourly raise available at 90 day review.

Java Island is a busy coffee drive thru located in Erie on Hwy 7, about 1 mile west of I25. We are looking to add 1 more barista to our team. Our shop has a chill vibe but we enjoy the hustle of being busy (& making $!). We run a slim staff to avoid diluting the tip pool, so we need a dependable mulitasker.

To join our team you should like staying busy, take pride in quality and enjoy interacting with customers, both human and canine (we are near a neighborhood so we get to meet a lot of pups!).

Ideal candidates are friendly, upbeat and outgoing with the ability to remain calm and collected under pressure (move fast and think fast). Dependability, attention to detail and a strong work ethic are required.

Currently, we are hiring for an experienced barista.

We start new hires out working Mid shifts (7:30-3:30) and Closing shifts(1-7:30). Once dependability and strong barista skills (quality as well as speed) are established, we can work you into Opening shifts (5:30-1), when available. Advancement opportunities available; we want our strongest workers on the busiest shifts. We give the most hours to the hardest workers, not seniority based.

ALL baristas at Java Island are required to work at least 1 weekend shift each week, weekends are our busiest days.

*This is not a seasonal position, we’re looking for someone who is going to be around for awhile (at least 6mos-1yr).

Currently, we are hiring for 2-3 shifts per week, flexible availability is preferred. More hours available for DEPENDABLE HARD WORKERS, our scheduling is not seniority based. We will have more hours becoming available this summer. Due to our year round shift starting times, we are not able to coordinate with typical HS student schedules.
