About the Role
We are looking for someone who is friendly, tech-savvy, organized, great at multi-tasking, and thrives in a busy, fast-paced environment. As a Receptionist, you will be the first point of contact for our customers - the ability to make a customer's experience amazing from the moment they walk through the door is everything in this role. The Receptionist is responsible for checking in new and existing customers per Colorado state and MED (Marijuana Enforcement Division) requirements, creating customer profiles, and generally assisting where needed.
Colorado MED Badge Requirement
Working at a licensed cannabis dispensary in Colorado requires all employees to hold a valid Colorado Marijuana Enforcement Division (MED) Employee License, commonly referred to as a "MED Badge." This is a mandatory state requirement and is non-negotiable for employment.
- All candidates must obtain a Colorado MED Employee License prior to their first day of work, or provide proof of a Conditional Employee License (which allows work while a full background check is being processed)
- The MED Badge requires a fingerprint-based background check conducted through the Colorado Marijuana Enforcement Division
- The MED Employee License application fee is $100.00 and is the responsibility of the applicant
- MED Badges are valid for two (2) years and must be renewed before expiration
- Applicants must be at least 21 years of age and must not have been convicted of a felony within the three (3) years immediately preceding their application
- Applicants must not be subject to a current sentence for a felony conviction, including probation, parole, or deferred judgment
- Applicants who are law enforcement officers, prosecuting officers, or employees of the Colorado Marijuana Enforcement Division or a local licensing authority are not eligible

Job Duties
- Verifying customers' legal age requirements, registering new customers in the POS system, and scanning in returning customers in compliance with Colorado MED regulations
- Checking customer purchasing allotments through the POS system upon check-in per Colorado state requirements
- Promoting the JARS brand and getting customers excited about shopping at our location
- Welcoming guests and customers into the store with a positive, upbeat, and friendly demeanor
- Using proper greetings and salutations with all customers at all times
- Assisting with curbside and online orders when needed
- Answering calls with professional and proper phone etiquette
- Providing customers with information regarding products, store hours and location, daily specials, website address, and more
- Emphasizing the JARS Loyalty Program, campaigns, events, daily texts, and other promotions
- Showing up to each scheduled shift on time and presentably dressed
- Communicating with team members for order completion updates
- Creating personable and memorable experiences for all store patrons
- Always maintaining Colorado state and MED compliance in all customer-facing interactions
- Performing opening, mid-day, and closing tasks, as well as general upkeep of the reception area
- Supporting store management in an administrative capacity as required
- Adhering at all times to all applicable Colorado laws, regulations, policies, compliance requirements, and protocols
- Monitoring customer queues at all times
- Keeping all online and in-store menus current with daily offerings
Requirements
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) required
- Must obtain and maintain a valid Colorado MED Employee License (MED Badge) prior to the start date - see MED Badge section above for details
- Must successfully pass the MED's fingerprint-based background check
- Minimum 1 year of customer service experience in a retail, sales, and/or hospitality environment
- 1 year of previous administrative and/or Front Desk Receptionist experience
- Must have strong attention to detail, organization, multi-tasking, and follow-up skills
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Must be able to work cooperatively as a team member
- Exceptional hospitality skills required - role involves constant contact with customers and staff
Work Atmosphere/Physical Demands
- Requires prolonged standing and some bending, stooping, and stretching
- Ability to operate a computer, POS system, and other office equipment
- Work will generally be performed in a fast-paced retail cannabis dispensary
- Involves constant contact with customers and staff throughout each shift
- Will require working varied hours/day, including nights, weekends, holidays, and/or events on occasion

Compensation and Benefits
Pay is determined based on experience, qualifications, and location. JARS Cannabis will not seek prior salary history and will not use salary history to determine compensation, in compliance with Colorado law.
Additional Compensation: Employees are eligible for monthly performance-based bonus incentives. Specific eligibility criteria and amounts are communicated during the onboarding process.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
