The Jarrett House includes guest rooms, a full-service restaurant, event space with bar service, and a retail bakery featuring house-made desserts. We are looking for dependable, service-minded team members who want to be part of a historic hospitality property and help create memorable guest experiences.
Baker
Position Overview
The Baker supports The Jarrett House’s retail bakery, restaurant dessert offerings, and event menus by preparing baked goods, desserts, and other house-made items. This role includes measuring ingredients, following recipes, baking, decorating, maintaining product freshness, and helping ensure bakery items reflect the quality and tradition of The Jarrett House. The ideal candidate enjoys hands-on food preparation, has strong attention to detail, and takes pride in creating items guests will remember.
Responsibilities
Prepare baked goods, desserts, pastries, and other bakery items according to recipes and standards.
Support production for the retail bakery, restaurant, and events.
Measure, mix, bake, decorate, and finish items with consistency and care.
Maintain quality, freshness, and presentation of bakery products.
Assist with inventory, ingredient storage, labeling, and rotation.
Keep bakery work areas clean, organized, and properly stocked.
Follow food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures.
Coordinate with kitchen, bakery, service, and management teams.
Assist with special orders, seasonal offerings, and event desserts as needed.
Help preserve and support The Jarrett House’s tradition of house-made desserts.
Qualifications
Previous baking, pastry, restaurant, or bakery experience preferred.
Basic knowledge of baking methods, ingredients, and kitchen equipment.
Strong attention to detail and consistency.
Ability to follow recipes and production schedules.
Creative, reliable, and organized.
Dependable, punctual, and available for flexible shifts, including early mornings, weekends, and holidays.
Ability to stand for long periods and lift, carry, bend, and move throughout a shift.
Experience with Southern desserts, pies, biscuits, or bakery café items is a plus.
Compensation
Starting at $16 /hour, dependent upon experience and position. Employee dining/retail discounts and growth opportunities in a historic community-focused setting.
